What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of Down Once More. I'm your host, Matt, and it is the first episode of June. So, of course, like always, I'm going to go over my watch report from last month and give you a preview of what is coming to streaming and theaters this month. My kind of picks, what I think I'm most excited for, and I'm going to do a new thing. At the end of going through each streaming site, I am going to say what my top pick, just one for the month is from there. So always as always, time codes in the descriptions. So you can hop to the streamer of your choice if you want. Skip the ones you don't have. Or my recommendation, stay tuned to see if there's anything that makes you want to subscribe for a month. Before I get into my watch report, a couple things. One, I'm still going strong with Matt's Coffee Corner. You can find that on all short form platforms. So TikTok, Instagram reels, YouTube shorts, all the fun stuff. You can find it over there, the Facebook Reels as well, at Down Once More Pod, our tag for everything. Also, we are now officially in video form on both Spotify and Apple. So you can continue listening to the audio only version on all podcast platforms, but Spotify and Apple now give you the opportunity to switch back and forth from audio to video. YouTube will keep going strong with the video as well. I do just want to give a caveat with Spotify. I have to add the video separately. So it will usually drop around 6 a.m., 6 30 a.m. on the day of the episode release instead of midnight, like most audio platforms drop. Apple, I can do it from my same platform. They show up at the same time. Alright, I got a lot to cover this week, so I'm gonna dive right into the watch report. Uh first up is Amadeus. Now, this was distributed in the US on Stars. It was originally a Sky TV series, so it did air in the UK last December. So this was its US debut. It was weird. The first three episodes they dropped weekly, and then they dropped all the rest of the episodes at once, probably due to not having the best reception and viewership numbers. They just wanted to dump them all and get through it. Now, Amadeus may sound familiar because it is based on the 1984 movie with F. Murray Abraham, uh written by Peter Schaefer, who originally wrote the stage play of the same name. Now, this is a mostly fictionalized story uh based on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Soleri. Um, now Mozart in this is played by Will Sharp and Solery is played by Paul Bettney. Both of these actors do give amazing performances in the miniseries. And they're it is very unique. After I watched the show, I went and rewatched the 1984 movie, which the director's cut of that remains a masterpiece, and I think probably my preferred version of it. However, the miniseries dives into a lot more um kind of different scenarios, and so there are enough differences that I think it is worth watching, but it never quite hits the peaks and the level of the 1984 movie. But Mozart's very annoying laugh from the 1984 movie is gone. Will Sharp plays a fantastic, uh, a little more craze, not much as much as a oh, a little bit like a spoiled child is how he's played in the 1984 movie. But Will Sharp's is a little bit more tormented, and he has these complicated issues stemming with his father, who in the 1984 movie his difficult relationship with his father doesn't really come to play that much. So I enjoyed the series. I do think it was interesting. It took the approach of Soleris confessing to Mozart's wife, saying how he killed Mozart, and in the movie he's confessing to a priest in the madhouse. So I thought that was interesting. The show also shows things more from Mozart's perspective than the movie. The movie's still primarily uh Soleris' point of view, which makes sense. He's the one telling the story. He's not gonna know everything that's going on with Mozart. So that narrative is different. The TV show didn't really stick the landing for me. Uh, how they went trying to go a little meta with it didn't really work for me. I thought it was entertaining enough, though. Worth a watch if you already have stars. I think eight episodes, quick binge. Something that isn't finished yet is Widow's Bay on Apple TV, which is one of my favorite things that I have seen in a long time. Matthew Rice is fantastic in it. This blends the horror, mystery, thriller, and comedy aspects so perfectly. Apple TV continues to put out amazing content, amazing series. There's three episodes left in it, dropping every Wednesday. So after today, there's only two episodes left. Highly recommend you check it out. It is a trip. It is a lot of fun. Another new one on Apple TV is Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed. This one's only three episodes in. And it has started out strong. It's got Marie Bartlett, Tatiana Maslani, Jake Johnson, all fantastic in their roles. It is also a mystery crime thriller, has some comedy elements, not nearly as many as Widow's Bay. But it is Tatiana Maslani, plays a woman who gets kind of uh intertwined with a male cam model and starts getting scammed, then murder entails, secrets from past comes up, there's relationship drama. It is a trip, it covers so many genres, I feel like, and everyone is fantastic in it. So I can't recommend that one enough. But like I said, it's not done yet. So both that and Widow's Bay, I can't guarantee they stick the landing. So it's looking very promising though. Uh, he also watched this a little overdue, Woman of the Hour on Netflix. This was a Netflix original, it's based on a true story uh with Anna Kendrick starring in it and directing it. It was her directorial debut, and I thought how the story was told was solid. It's about a serial killer who was kind of not exposed, but Anna Kendrick's character had an interaction with him on the dating show. And how it is told is very compelling, and you get cuts back from real time to well, where it takes place to the past and the murders that he has conducted. So I really enjoyed how the story was told. I thought it was compelling and gripping enough as it went on. So I would recommend that. I think it came out in 2023, so I'm quite late to the party. I also started Man on Fire, the Netflix original adaptation of the novel of the same name, which was turned into a Denzel Washington movie. Uh, obviously, a lot has changed from the book in this series, as stars Yaya Abdul Mateen II. I have not finished it yet. It started out as a solid enough action series and action thriller, so I am enjoying it, but I don't know. There's not enough that has really sucked me in where it's like, I have to watch the next episode. I have to keep going on it, quite like Widows Bay or Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed have. So still solid action thriller series so far, and I will be finishing it up. Probably give my thoughts on the final uh in July's episode, how it closes out, and what I think of it then. I did watch Punisher One Last Kill on Disney Plus. This was the one-shot special, uh special presentation, I think is what they call it. It's only about 40 minutes long. I I have mixed feelings. I do enjoy how John Bernthal plays the Punisher. However, I this for being a 40-minute show, they tried to dive into his PTSD and his complicated relationship with the Marines more in this. He it's almost like a soft launch into the MCU, which he did in Daredevil Born Again. Now, don't get me wrong, this is a very R-rated series, but it's almost like in some aspects they're trying to retell certain things from the show. So I I don't know. It was good enough. The action was solid, it was very different than what I was expecting. There is a dog that is murdered in like the first five-10 minutes of this, so be forewarned about that. I watched the finale of the boys. I finished this final season, and I'm really struggling with where I lie on it. I do think the final episodes got much better. I felt like this season struggled to kind of get me hooked, but then the last three episodes uh I thought were very solid and I thoroughly enjoyed. I felt like some of the things in the finale didn't quite pay off how I was expecting to, but overall it did put a pretty neat and tidy bow on things. Uh, I wish some things would have been fleshed out more, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. I also watched the finale of Euphoria. So I'm recording this on Monday the first. So I stayed up last night and watched it. And uh brief, well, I'm gonna wait and touch on Euphoria at the end because I'm gonna get into a couple spoilers on it, and I want to give you the warning, and then you can just skip to the next time code. Uh, I watched In Pieces the filmed concert from the other palace in London. This is the new musical from Joey Contreras. I've talked about it on here multiple times last week's episode. I reviewed it. It is now available to rent for two more weeks. So if you missed your opportunity, 20 bucks. Fantastic use of 20 bucks, in my opinion. I have rewatched it multiple times. The music is amazing, the story it tells is amazing. These the way Joey Contreras captures real people in their stories and these real relationships that aren't like too perfect and pretty, and everyone gets everything wrapped up with a nice bow and a happy ending. I love it. I can't wait to see it get fleshed out more. It is gonna be at West End Live in June 20th. I will not be there, partially because I have a job. I do not have the money to go to the West End and I other reasons. But if you're in London and want to go to West End Live, check out In Pieces. It's amazing. I think it's gonna be a big hit. I'm really looking forward to see this continue to grow and develop. Only thing I will say, Joey Contreras did say it is going to be a one-act show, which disappoints me just because I'm selfish and want as much of this story and music as we can get. So I would love a two-act show, but you don't always get what you want. That's kind of the trend this week. I also started re-watching Psych, the USA original show with um James Roday and Dooley Hill. James Roday plays a very intuitive guy who pretends to be a psychic detective to help the Santa Barbara Police Department. It is, you can tell it was early 2000s. Flip phones are prevalent, good old Razor. That was my go-to in high school. And it is still though the humor is clever. Dooley Hill and James Roday play off each other so well. There's a reason this lasted as long as it did, had three movies. There is a psych the musical too. So when I get to that, probably we'll talk about that on here. Okay, Euphoria series finale. Season three of Euphoria was a very mixed bag for me. I felt like the earlier episodes, I was a little bit like, what is going on here? But the last three episodes I felt were very strong in the story that they were telling. It is a completely different vibe than seasons one and two, where these characters were in high school. It is tackling addiction. It's always tackled addiction and shown it in a very real and intense way. And this season tackles it uh even more heavily from a completely different angle. And it shows some real intense and over-the-top and probably extreme versions of these things, but that these characters are now struggling with. And so, like I said, spoilers, the penultimate episode ended with Maddie and Cassie uh enlisting, well, Maddie enlisting Alamo's help to kind of pay off the people and get Nate back, just to find Nate had been killed by Rattlesnake in the coffin he was buried in. This has a little bit of a time jump, not a ton, but there is throughout the episode, you see kind of Cassie and Maddie dealing with these things. Maddie dealing with getting more entangled with Alamo. One of the wildest things in the finale for me is that Rue dies within like 30 minutes in. So it is you think she is going after something and chasing and going to have a little bit of a happy ending potentially, but then you find out it was just a dream, and it was as she was fading away because she had gotten hurt. Alamo gives her per cassettes, he had labeled laced to them with fentanyl because he knew she was a rat. She took one, he gave an addict the drugs, and she couldn't resist, and then she died. She's staying with Ali. Ali finds her and it kind of breaks him. So then we get a three-month time jump, and it's Ali leaving the support group saying he needs to find another way, and ultimately going on a rampage and killing Animo. What the fuck did I just say there? Alamo. It was a very intense, more violent ending than I was expecting, but I actually enjoyed it. People are mad at how they ended things for Rue, but it's always been about her struggle with addiction. And I you knew the character wasn't gonna have a happy ending. So it ends with Ali going to the homestead that Rue stops at in the first episode and had dreamed of going back to, and getting like a little bit of closure, calling Rue his daughter, meeting that family. There were a lot of religious elements tied into this that I was kind of surprised to see, but I thought it did it in a pretty solid way. I liked how it came across. Lexi has a conversation with Cassie, which is ridiculous. Lexi's talking about reading the Bible and some of the what she found beautiful in it while Cassie's just cleaning dildos on her bed. And so it's a little ridiculous, but I thought overall I was pleasantly surprised with the finale. I didn't know where it was going to go. I thought it was a good bow on the series overall, especially with kind of how messy the third season was. So that's my thoughts on that. Okay, let's get into new things coming to streaming in theaters. Starting on Netflix, now this is coming out June 3rd, so the June 1st releases obviously already happened. I'm still gonna say the dates that they came out, just for your information. As always, all these streaming sites have big previous existing things that they drop on the first of the month. So June 1st, yeah, B movie. The only reason I included this is because I went to an event at a cider place where they talked about it was a nerd night. So it's people can give presentations, PowerPoint presentations on things they are passionate about or would consider themselves kind of experts about. And there was a B expert who talked about one of the things that comes up at the beginning of B movie where it talks about bees shouldn't be able to fly, their wings are too small to lift their fat little bodies. During this presentation, they went over some of the insane things that happened in B movie, and I forgot about all that shit in this movie. It is wild. So I am going to go and re-watch it now that's coming on Netflix because I forgot that it's he basically gets in a relationship with the human woman, he goes to court and he represents himself. Yeah, wild. I'm going to watch it again. But you also have Cinderella Man, Creed, and Creed 2 and 3, so the whole Creed series, Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride 2, uh, seasons one through five of Hawaii 5.0, the CBS reboot series, uh, Inside Man, Law Men, Bass Reeves, which was a Paramount Plus original series, which is continuing kind of their partnership with Netflix, where they've put a lot of the Showtime shows on there, uh, putting some of their originals on here to get more eyes on it. I think is a smart move. You also have Little Miss Sunshine, great comedy from back in the day, Miracle, Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, Riddick, uh, the entire Rocky series, except Rocky II for some reason. Uh, Rookie of the Year, Rudy, Runaway Bride, Maid of Honor, uh, to get your rom com fix in, The Big Lebowski, The Fault in Our Stars, if you want to cry, The Girl on the Train, The Karate Kid, The Karate Kid 2 and 3, and the 2010 version of Karate Kid with Jaden Smith, as well as the wedding planner. So some solid rom coms, some action movies, a lot of fun stuff dropped. Uh, today, on June 3rd, Michael Jackson The Verdict comes out, which is a documentary dissecting kind of Michael Jackson's trial. Tomorrow, June 4th, another round comes out, which was a great movie, won a ton of awards. I really enjoyed it. Uh, it's not in English, so you will need to have subtitles on, but I think it's worth it. I thought it was a beautiful movie, beautifully shot. Recommend it. Uh, Netflix original, The Witness debuts, which is a UK crime drama series uh based on true story about Rachel Nickel, who was murdered in 1992. Her son was a witness to it, and then the case is reopened 16 years later, and her young son is having to like revisit and go through these things. I don't know anything about the true story. I'm excited to check this out. They're also dropping on the same day a documentary about her murder called the murder of Rachel Nickel. So it will show you the kind of not fictionalized, but the a little bit fictionalized version of the story, and then a documentary so you can dive into the details a lot more. I think they should do that more often when there is a true crime series, um, that is a scripted series, that dropping a documentary alongside it, I think is a fantastic move because you watch the series, you want to learn more about the actual case, you watch the documentary, double up those views. June 5th, um, Office Romance, a Netflix original movie with Brett Goldstein and Jennifer Lopez. It's a rom com. Brett Goldstein plays a lawyer who goes in to work for Jennifer Lopez, who is the big CEO of this airline company. It looks like a lot of fun. I'm a sucker for anything Brett Goldstein's in. Ted Lasso, shrinking, always a good time. Also, another Netflix original original, wow, I cannot talk. Mexico 86. This is uh Diego Luna stars in this. It's a movie about the bid for Mexico to host the 1986 World Cup. It is all in Spanish, so another one you gotta throw those subtitles on, put your phone down, but it looks like a lot of fun, and Diego Luna is a fantastic actor, so I'm excited for that one. June 10th, the reality survival series Outlast the Jungle, a Netflix original. Uh, the first, however many episodes drop on the 10th, the final two episodes drop on the 17th. It is where 16 people are split into teams, they are left in the jungle, they have to fill in, finish a number of challenges and survive and work together, kind of survivor-esque, and the winning team has to split a million-dollar prize. So there's strategy involved, people can leave and join teams at any time. Uh, I'm kind of intrigued by it, but my watch list is so heavy, it's gonna be a while before I get to it. June 13th, Songsung Blue comes on, the musical kind of biopic with Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. On June 15th, Drinking Buddies comes to Netflix. It's a 2013 comedy, has Jake Johnson, Olivia Wilde, Anna Kendrick, and Ron Livingston. A lot of fun, and so you can check that out. The Percy Jackson movies, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Lightning Thief, and Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters. On June 18th, another Netflix original series, I Will Find You. Uh, we talked about it recently, but Netflix has been doing a ton of Harlan Coben adaptations, but it's been turned into British series. This is the first US Harlan Coben adaptation. So as far as Sam Worthington, Brit Lower, it looks very good, and I'm excited to check it out. June 19th, the Netflix original movie, Voicemails for Isabel. It's a rom com with Zoe Deutsch. Uh, Zoe Deutsch plays a woman who calls her dead sister's phone to leave voicemails just to kind of feel some kind. Connection and have a way of letting go. And there is a boy who has this phone number now and is getting those voicemails and listening to them and then wanting to connect and bond with her. It's technically a rom-com. You can tell things are gonna go wrong from the trailer, but I am interested in checking it out. On June 22nd, the TNT series, The Last Ship, the full series debuts. And on June 24th, another Netflix original movie in the hands of Dante. This movie looks very intriguing. It stars Oscar Isaac, Gerard Butler, uh Galgadot, John Malkovich. It is where Oscar Isaac plays a 21st century author who feels a connection to Dante Oligheri's works and he feels it cross time. So it's showing parallel stories from the 14th century and the 21st century. Every actor plays dual roles throughout it. The 21st century is in black and white, the 14th century is in color. Gerard Butler has a wild beard and wig at one point in the 14th century. So I don't know if this is going to be good, but I am very, very intrigued by this. On June 25th, season two of the Netflix original Avatar The Last Airbender series, the adapt adaptation of the anime series, is coming to Netflix, the live action adaptation. June 26th, another Netflix original movie. It is a great month for Netflix originals this month. Little Brother. This stars John Cena and Eric Andre. Eric Andre plays a guy who John Cena was his big brother from the Big Brother program growing up. Starts getting attached to him. John Cena's life starts falling apart. John Cena is a fantastic comedic actor. Like I cannot get enough of him in comedies. Blockers, he's so good. Ricky Stanicki, a mediocre movie, but John Cena and the character he plays and how well he plays it is amazing. So I'm very excited for Little Brother. And I think my top pick for the month, though, is gonna be Office Romance because I am a sucker for Brett Goldstein. So I am all in on this. Let's hop on over to Apple TV. Not many things to Apple TV. They only have a few new releases each month, but they're always solid. The first thing that is getting lots of ray of early reviews is Cape Fear. It releases June 5th, so the end of this week. It stars Javier Bardem, Patrick Wilson, Amy Adams. It is based on there have been two previous uh movie adaptations of this. So it is based where uh Javier Bardem plays a criminal who is released from being imprisoned. In this series adaptation, it is for a crime he didn't commit, and he goes after his lawyer and her family. So his lawyer is played by Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson is her husband. There has been some shady stuff going on that's hinted in the trailer. I haven't watched any of the previous movies, I have no idea what to expect, but this series looks fantastic. The other original drops on June 19th, and that is season two of Sugar. This is the mystery series with Colin Farrell where he plays a private detective. It looks solid. I never watched season one. I've heard great things about it. It's on the list, but out of those two, my top pick is gonna be Cape Fear. That's gonna be the one that I prioritize out of them. Let's hop over to Prime Video. Now, Prime Video, I have some beef with because they are bad at releasing what is coming out to them. So all they really released all is one original is on this list, and then their whole previously released drops on June 1st. There is technically an anime series uh that is Vox, uh, I think the Adventures of Vox Magina, which is not my thing, so it isn't on the list, so I don't know what dates that's coming out, but that does come out if that's your thing to Prime Video. June 1st, and I I didn't say it in the intro. These are not comprehensive lists. So on June 1st, there's actually like 50 movies dropping. These are the ones that stand out to me, and I want to make you aware of for all of these sites. So June 1st, we got Blood Sport, we got Bring It On, the entire Bill and Ted series, Cyrano, the musical with Haley Bennett and Peter Dinklage, End of Watch, Legally Blonde, and the sequel, Legally Blonde, Red, White, and Blonde, Mall Rats, Mad Max, the original movie, The Man in the Iron Mask, Platoon, Public Enemies, The Notebook, the 1961 original version of West Side Story, and Xanadu. If you want an over-the-top skating musical. June 6th, you have Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. June 10th, every year after. Now, this is a prime original series. It's another teen romance drama. So if that's your thing, you can check it out. On June 12th, you have Plane, the action movie with Gerard Butler. June 23rd, Priscilla, about Priscilla Presley, and that's all that they've really released for the month. So my top pick is going to be Cyreno. Uh, it's an older one, and by older, I mean like five years. We have reviewed it on the podcast. It is one that took me by surprise. It has some beautiful music in it, an absolutely beautiful score. It is one of the most visually appealing musicals that I have ever seen. So it is a bit of a downer, so disclosure there, but I really enjoy it. So that's my top pick. Let's hop on over to HBO Max now. On the first, they dropped History of Violence, Contagion, Heller High Water, which is a great, like modern neo-western uh midsummer, great A24 horror movie. Room, Bree Larson and Jacob Tremblay are fantastic in it. And then The Rock. You gotta escape Alcatraz. And also on the first is the Netflix original documentary, Bring Me the Beauties, a model cult. It is about the Eternal Values cult, where uh led by Frederick von Meyrers, who was obsessed with beauty. He would only get beautiful people in there. He'd say it wasn't a cult. It primarily explores uh male supermodel Hoyt Richards experience there, but it touches base on a lot of people who were involved in the cult in the interviews. It looks kind of crazy. Um, it's added to my list. Don't know how far or how long it'll take me to actually get to it. June 3rd, Ready Player 1 drops. June 5th is the first of newer A24 releases this month, and that's Pillion. It is stars Alexander Skarsgard as a charismatic biker who takes on a directionless man as his submissive in a relationship. So uh a little more sexually forward and graphic than maybe some other romances you have seen, but A24 is always unique, always original, and Alexander Skarsgard is a fantastic actor and always commits 100%. So I'm interested in checking that one out. Great way to celebrate Pride Month. On June 7th is the Earth, Wind and Fire documentary to be celestial versus That's the Weight of the World. On June 11, and that's an HBO original as well. June 11th, you got Gran Turismo. June 19th is the next day 24-1, How to Make a Killing. This stars Glenn Powell. I talked about it when I was coming to theaters. I was excited to see it. It is about him. He's down on the list of getting the inheritance. So he makes a plan and starts murdering the people ahead of him. Got mixed reviews, but I'm a Glenn Powell fan. I'm an A24 fan. I will definitely be checking it out. June 21st is House of the Dragon season three premiere. Uh, I did start re-watching House of the Dragon to try to prepare because it's been a while since it debuted, and because I do recaps of it on here. So this is the first one that I'm touching base on here that will be doing recaps on the podcast. Now, my plan is to record and release my initial reactions, thoughts on it the night after I watch the episode. We will see how sustainable that is. This month is going to be hell for me, so we'll see. But as of now, I have great intentions, and those are my intentions. On June 26th, uh HBO Original series Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, an almost history of America. This is a new Larry David series. It's produced by the Obamas. Not a ton is known about it, but I'm here for Larry David. So we will see. I love Curb Your Enthusiasm. I'm excited for it. Uh also on the 26th, the final new A24 drop is Undertone. I talked about it when it was coming to theaters, a horror movie about a podcast focusing on kind of the creepy and supernatural things. Comes into a haunting. I'm excited for it. Um my top pick for the month from HBO is going to be House of the Dragon season three. Uh, I have really enjoyed House of the Dragon overall, and it has some work because the newest Thrones thing in my mind is a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which I absolutely adored. So, House of the Dragon is a completely different vibe, right? It's a much larger scale, especially this season. Very action-heavy. You got the dragons, you get no dragons. How uh Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is very grounded. So I'm excited for this series, and I think it'll be fantastic. Over on Hulu now, their drop on June 1st. We have Captain America, The Winter Soldier, and Civil War. So all three of the Captain America movies, Catch Me If You Can, Brokeback Mountain, Dodgeball, Get Hard, Gladiator, Independence Day, Hancock, The Intern, Kung Fu Panda, 1 through 3, Live Free or Die Hard, Mr. Deeds, National Treasure, and the sequel, National Treasure Book of Secrets, Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Raid Redemption, uh great, great action movie. It's one of the best, like shot and choreographed action movies out there, kind of set the stage for John Wick. Uh, The Sandlot, Talladagon Knights, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, 12 Years a Slave, uh, The Original Transformers, and then Transformers Age of Extinction, and then The Water Boy. So you got some Adam Sandler classics in there. June 2nd, a new Hulu original series debuted, not suitable for work. It stars uh Avantica from Mean Girls that we've talked about, and a number of others. It follows five young professionals, it's produced by Mindy Kaling, looks like a really fun comedy series. Also, on the second was Meacap. This is such a fun music biopic. It's way different than any other one that you would have watched. Brad and I reviewed it on here. It's over the top. You're gonna need to have subtitles on for this as well. Uh, and I highly recommend you check it out. June 8th, uh, Alice and Steve, the entire season one drops. This is a Hulu original as well. It's a British comedy series with Jermaine Clement, who you may know from Flight of the Concords. Uh, he starts sleeping with and then dating his best friend's daughter, and you can bet your ass that does not go over well. It looks very entertaining. I'm a big fan of Jermaine Clement's style of comedy, and I think he's a fantastic actor. June 9th, that ends with us, uh, Colleen Hoover adaptation. June 20th, the creator, and then June 25th, the final season of the Bear debuts. Now they did surprise drop uh like a one-shot episode with John Burenthal's character and uh Ibn Moss Baccharak, where it follows them going on a road trip. I have not watched it yet. I need to, I know I need to. That should have been on my watch list, but it wasn't because I keep forgetting about it because of surprise dropped. My top pick is going to be the Bear season five. I've really enjoyed this show. I feel like it's fallen off a little bit from season one. I don't think it's quite reached the peaks of that in any of its subsequent seasons. There's been some episodes that have rivaled the episodes in season one, but the vibe has changed. It's still solid. I'm glad they're ending it at a set point instead of dragging it on and on, but I am very excited to see how they kind of close the curtain on this show. Okay, let's hop over to Disney Plus. There actually are a few things dropping on Disney Plus that weren't covered in the Hulu one. On June 3rd, the newest Pixar movie Hoppers debuts. This looked like a lot of fun. I've heard good things about it. There's lots of memes that have spawned from it from The Lizard, so I'm excited to be able to check that out. On June 14th, the Muppets Most Wanted, the Unnecessary Extended Cut, comes out. Now, I can't remember if it was on the pod or just in a random conversation with Sage. I have not watched the newer Muppet movies with Jason Siegel, which is surprising because I love Jason Siegel and I love the Muppet movies back in the day. But this might be my cue and my time to do it now that an extended cut is releasing and it's unnecessary. Who doesn't love unnecessary shit? June 16th, a documentary, A Spark into a Flame. It's a Hamilton and hip hop documentary. I'm very intrigued by this. I knew nothing about it until I saw it was coming out on the 16th. I love Hamilton. That was one of the musicals that got me back into musicals as an adult, so I am going to be checking that out for sure. June 24th, Avatar Fire and Ash debuts. And I think my top pick for the month is a spark into a flame. I'm a sucker for a good documentary, especially one on musical theater. The one on rent, No Day But Today, is one of my absolute favorites, telling more about Jonathan Larson's story that you can get on the Rent DVD, but it is also in full on YouTube. So I'm excited to see this about a little bit more behind the scenes of Hamilton. Let's hop over to Peacock now. Their drop on the first included the A-Team, Bing John Malkovich, the Bird Cage, highly recommend. Uh Blackhawk Down, Brokeback Mountain, Call Me by Your Name, Deep Water Horizon, the entire Divergent series, Fast and Furious, Too Fast, Too Furious, Tokyo Drift, First Blood, First Blood Part 2, and then Rambo 3, Fruit Vale Station, Geostorm. If you watch Geostorm, you need to go watch the How Did This Get Made or listen to the How Did This Get Made episode on it as well. Happy Gilmore, Jack Reacher, Jennifer's Body, Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and Jurassic Park 3, Kingdom of Heaven, Law Abiding Citizen, Master and Commander, The Far Side of the World, which is a very underrated movie in my opinion. The Mechanic, Mega Mind, Miami Vice, Open Range, Over the Edge, Patch Adams, Spider-Man Homecoming, True Grit, The Untouchables, and The Wedding Singer. So another uh site where Adam Sandler classics are streaming. June 2nd. So this would be last night. It's tomorrow night as I'm recording this. The Love Island USA Season 8 premiere. Now, I have not watched it, obviously, as I'm recording this, because it airs tomorrow, but I am planning on trying to do nightly instant reactions for this. Those will be YouTube exclusives. And then on whatever night they have their after sun, Saturday or Sunday, I will be combining all those episodes and releasing it on podcast platforms. So you will have nightly on YouTube, if that's your thing, you want to check it out as it goes, or at the end of the week, I'll do one drop on here. But it will be just a compilation of all of those. I'm not gonna go in and re-record a summary one. What these will be, not a comprehensive recap. So what it won't be is a comprehensive recap. What it will be is my initial thoughts, feelings on it. I am going to, I haven't yet. I'm gonna try to do some research tonight and put together my prediction list of who I think will couple up with each other just based on dated Instagram posts of what their ideal neon sign would say. As someone with a beautiful fuck off sign in my background, I know what my ideal neon sign would say. And I just saw a couple of these. One was open 24-7. Uh, what are we doing? Uh, so I am going to go through those. I am going to rank them. I'll record this prior and I'll uh probably put it on TikTok short form platforms uh and say who I think should match up based on their neon sign picks. Now, if you're watching or listening to this and you're like, I don't see that anywhere, you know why that is? Because life gets busy and I didn't get a chance to. But I have good intentions right now as I'm recording this. I struggle with the balance because I'm glad more people are watching Love Island. However, the online community of Love Island is one of the both the best and worst things about it. Now, I say best because I'm trying to take advantage of it and get more podcast views by talking about it. That's just fully transparent. And because I love it and I love trash reality TV and I want to talk about it. What I struggle with is people who then start attacking these people in real life, um, digging up stuff from people's past. Now, if people are shitty people, absolutely like they should be called out and held accountable for their actions, right? However, people can change. That is not an excuse for any of their actions. I am in no means saying that. So digging things up and ruining people's lives, you have to remember that Love Islands put out multiple things, disclaimers, because some of the stuff last season got intense. Um, these are real people, and UK series had an issue and they've scaled back from what they've shown in the Love Island Island seasons. Early seasons were wild. I've long said Love Island UK seasons two through five, some of the best seasons of reality television, in my opinion. But they struggled. There were multiple people who took their own lives based on reaction to the show, how people were treated and perceiving them, and it just amplified that exposure. And people are bullies and people suck. Now, are they signing up for being in the public eye by being on the show? Absolutely. However, I do not think anyone you can make shitty choices. No one should be brutally bullied to the point of taking their life. So sorry to get kind of dark and serious, but I'm going to try to keep my kind of thoughts on it lighthearted. I might disagree with what people do, and I'm going to call that out. I'm going to keep my thoughts on what happens on the show. So that's my disclaimer. Not diving into all the social media. I tend to try to stay off social media because it can just suck you in and be a cesspool and just a pile on for negativity. And I found out that that's not great for my mental health. So I'm going to give my thoughts just on the show. That being said, there is already controversy before it even airs. Supposedly, one of the contestants that was revealed, Vasana, was removed already. So we'll see what happens. One of the um people on it, he was a police officer. Apparently, the mayor of that town's coming out, not happy with him because him resigning from the force to go on Love Island uh left the city understaffed. I is a whole thing. So we'll see. Uh, it's the summer, life is busy, some vacations thrown in there. No promises, it'll always be the same night it releases, but I'm gonna do my best to have it within 24 hours at the latest. What else we're having is Lorne, the movie kind of documentary about Lorne Michaels is making its Peacock premiere. June 18th, Wolfman, June 25th, Last Breath, and then June 26th, another Peacock original, strong. This is a movie starring Chloe Chloe Bailey. She is a violinist who becomes kind of like a tutor to a young girl staying with this family. Uh, something seems off, it turns into a horror movie. It's from Bloomhouse, Tyler Perry's uh producer as well. I'm intrigued by it. I'll be checking it out. June 28th, the Holdovers comes out as well. And my top pick is obviously going to be Love Island, USA season eight. And I'm not gonna go into all of the reasons. I talked about them just 30 seconds ago. Okay, last streaming site, Paramount Plus. On the first, they released 21 and 22 Jump Street. Fantastic comedies. Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill play off wonderfully of each other. I Cube is also great in it. Uh Chasing Amy, Clerks, Death Becomes Her, Eagle Eye, Four Brothers, Get Rich or Die Trying, Hot Rod, Southpaw, Taken, The Big Short, The Italian Job, The Last Duel, The Manchurian Candidate, True Grit, Uncle Buck, and Without a Paddle. Hot Rod is one from Andy Sandberg, Jorm Tacomb, the Lonely Island crew. It's stupid, but it has some absolutely hilarious moments. Now I haven't revisited in a while. Maybe it doesn't hold up, but I maybe it's this is a sign. This is my time to revisit Hot Rod. On June 2nd, uh Paramount Plus original documentary, Devotion, Obedience, or Betrayal. This focuses on the community of Gloria Vale, where there is a they say they're not a cult, basically a cult that it holds to very traditional practices where the husbands are in charge of anything everything, the women are required to be very submissive, submissive, and it shows that they're getting some unprecedented access. They're having interviews with people in the community, getting their point of view. You're seeing people outside that are like worried and trying to change and expose what's going on there. I'm very intrigued by this, especially from after watching the series Unchosen on Netflix. This looks like some of the things here were mirror mirrored from Gloria Vale. So Unchosen, Netflix, solid show. This documentary, scary, but good. Looks good. June 7th are the Tony Awards. So you can do the live stream on Paramount Plus. It also airs on CBS. Um, and then on June 18th, the musical movie 9, June 21st, season two of The Agency. This is a Paramount Plus original. It stars Michael Fastbender and it's a CIA thriller series. I haven't watched season one. Season two looks great, so it's gonna be added to my list to go back and watch this series. My top pick is going to be the Tony Awards. I am very excited for the lineup, seeing some of the live performances from the nominees for Best Musical, uh, and seeing they're having a revival of the original cast of Book of The Book of Mormon is gonna be on there performing a number uh to celebrate their anniversary. So I'm excited for the Tony Awards. Okay, let's take a look at what's coming to theaters this month. Uh, this weekend on June 5th, uh, the first thing I'm gonna call out is Power Ballad. I mentioned it in last month's preview of what was coming because it did start in some select locations on the 29th. This is the newest John Carney movie. John Carney is the man behind Once, Sing Street, and Begin Again. Once is an absolutely beautiful musical movie with Glenn Hansard and Market Aglova. Um, has Falling Slowly, Say It to Me Now. Fantastic uh soundtrack that was turned into a Broadway show. And this stars Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd. Nick Jonas, an up-and-coming superstar singer, uh Paul Rudd, a wedding band player whose song is stolen by Nick Jonas's character. It looks heartwarming, it looks uh funny. I'm really excited for it. Uh, you also have Masters of the Universe, is the other big one this weekend. He-Man and Masters of the Universe adaptation. It looks like it's leaning into the campy side, it looks like a lot of fun. You also have scary movie six. They're just going with calling it scary movie, however, the V and the I and movie are highlighted to show six Roman numerals just like Scream kind of did. Um, I have to be honest, I have never watched a single scary movie from front to back. So this looks like from the trailers, like the old scary movies. I don't know if that's something I enjoy or not. We'll see. Maybe I'll revisit it eventually when this comes out. Carolina Caroline is another debut on the fifth. This is a romance crime thriller with Samara Weaving and Kyro Gallner. I am very excited for this. It looks intense, it looks fun. I'll be checking it out. Uh, also on the fifth is Chum. This is another movie kind of like Dangerous Animals, where there is a killer who has a boat. This one stars Alice Eve. The boat owner uses people, he kidnaps them, he uses them as chum to attract a shark he's been chasing, essentially, is the vibe. I think this will be kind of similar to Dangerous Dangerous Animals. We're not going to get a ton of actual shark action, even though they show it in the trailer. It's more going to be the people trying to survive and battling the boat owner, but I'm still intrigued by it. On June 12th, there's really only one thing, and that is disclosure day. This is Steven Spielberg's next alien movie. It stars Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor. It looks intense. Uh, the latest trailer is like Steven Spielberg just talking about basically like, hey, this shit's real. Um, and so I I don't know what to think about it, but I'm a big fan of Joe Josh O'Connor. He's been taken off and always a fan of Emily Blunt. So I'm excited to check this one out. June 19th, you have Toy Story 5, the next Pixar movie in that franchise. I think, if I'm not mistaken, they said this will be the last one, but who knows? I thought they said that with three and four. So we'll see. Uh, and then what I'm excited about in this day is the death of Robin Hood. This has Hugh Jackman. He's playing an aging and dying Robin Hood. It's a completely different take on the hero than what we've seen in other movies. He's more violent and bloodthirsty. It looks very intense. Hugh Jackman looks like he gives a fantastic performance, so I'm excited to check that out. And then the last weekend of the month, June 26th. The big one this month is Supergirl. This star is Millie Alcock from House of the Dragon, is where I was first introduced to her. She plays Carzorel, Superman's cousin, and she's having to go on a mission to get the antidote for her dog Crypto after he was poisoned. So gotta love animals in peril. Uh Jason Momoa also stars in this as Lobo, which he said is one of his dream roles. So when James Gunn switched over to DC, casting Jason Mamoa as Lobo was a no-brainer for him. So I'm excited for this. I'm like cautiously optimistic. There's some things about the trailer that don't just don't work as well for me. It's Supergirl bringing alongside this kid whose family was murdered by the same people that poisoned crypto, so a little bit of a revenge quest. I I don't know. I can't decide how I feel about this, but we'll see. We'll see. Um, you also have Jackass, Best and Last. Uh, this is supposedly the last Jackass. It has a compilation of some of the best clips from previous movies, as well as new stunts bringing the crew back together. It looks wild. It this is not like a theater watch for me, but I am excited to check it out once it eventually hits streaming, probably on Paramount Plus. And then final thing this month is the invite. This looks like a wild, wacky drama uh comedy with Seth Rogan, Olivia Wilde, Edward Norton, and Panel B. Cruz. So I'm excited to check it out. And this may surprise people, but my top pick for the month is gonna be Power Ballad. I love Paul Raw Rudd, I love John Carney's work. I am very excited to watch this movie, and this is one that I will be making time to go see in the theater. So, with disclosure day and supergirl, my top pick is Power Ballad. So that is going to do it for what I wanted to cover for what's coming to streaming in theaters this month. This was a long episode, there is a lot coming. Um, stay tuned.
